Day0 begins with a quake
Pinky was sleeping peacefully, for his hordes of Day 0 interviews tomorrow...
Naali, Anukool, Betaal & I had returned from the canteen 5 mins back.
Anukool and I were chatting outside his room, I was standing resting against the angular wall, right below the big circle when all of a sudden I felt some vibration in the wall. I felt kinda odd but just then Anukool also looked flummoxed and asked me whether i had felt anything or not. I had merely bared my teeth to indicate that i did, that we felt a bigger second vibration. Immediately we shouted "EARTHQUAKE !!! EARTHQUAKE !!! BHAGO !!!" and a lot of ppl from my dorm rushed down two floors of our dungeon-like flight of stairs and reached an open field where the chances of safety were signifiactly higher. Skimpy, true to his name, ran out doing a Salman Khan, ie, only in his bottoms, and nearly everyone else was barefoot too. We could see that ppl from other dorms, particularly D9, had come outside their buildings too. There was a bit of commotion but it was smiling faces all around, ppl who had not experienced earthquakes before were getting excited abt it and others were asking them to get serious as everyone had the Republic Day disaster in mind. However everyone was just too glad that this was not a case of history repeating itself and on the way up we came discussing how well Louis Kahn had built the IIMA architecture. How because no beams had been used the whole walls were load bearing structures and how during the last quake too all the buildings had survived and the biggest damages were only a few cracks.
When we reached our respective floors, with the threat to life over, it was back to the mundane realities and tensions abt the upcoming job interviews. The fading levels of adrenaline in my bloodstream however do force me to think, if we are so unconcerned abt our own lives no wonder we have a short public memory.
Pinky was still sleeping peacefully, for his hordes of Day 0 interviews tomorrow...

I think thats what determines a person's alive-quotient, his/her level of concern and conciousness about the self. It stumps me whn i c so many ppl, gorgin on fats till thr heart gives away, or booze till thr liver bcms rubber :D I rem smone hd tld me once, "Learn to respect yourself, your time and your value, otherwise you will never be able to give it to others or take it from them either."
